My name is Sarah, aka the Happy Hobbit. I live in Australia, currently in Naarm (Melbourne), on the unceded traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation.

I am interested in a lot of things, it often feels like I have way too many tabs open in my brain, hence the name of this website. In some ways it can be a bit overwhelming as it’s hard to quieten the mind, and I’m always jumping from one thing to the next, but I also think it’s not such a bad thing as there are so many wonderful things to learn, to see and to experience in this one precious life, and I don’t want to miss anything!

Being in nature and the “outdoors” takes me to my personal happy place, but looking at the wider picture, protecting bio-diverse ecosystems is critical to the survival of our planet, including both the natural environment and human society. I am very concerned by the current trajectory towards environmental catastrophe (and the flow on effects this will have) that humankind is hurtling us towards. I try to take steps, even if they may often be imperfect and small, to try to make a positive difference in the world.

I believe that every one of us can make a difference. I have noticed in my own life that often it is seeing someone else taking action that sows a seed in my mind that in turn may germinate and bring new life and actions. This is part of the reason I decided to create this website – to collect my thoughts and adventures in one place, and to connect with and exchange ideas and experiences with others who share some of my many and diverse passions.

Thank you for stopping by this little corner of the internet, if you see anything that interests you please feel free to contact me to start a conversation or leave a comment on the blog.
