Hi friends, you may have noticed I started posting on my blog after a big gap. I’m currently reasonably active on Instagram, which I still enjoy, but as the big social media platforms are increasingly being filled with meaningless content, unwanted advertising/sponsored content, or right-wing crap, and I see other people suddenly lose access to their wholesome accounts for unexplained reasons without much they can do about it, I have decided I would like to start putting more effort into cultivating my own little space on the internet that isn’t so tightly under control of the billionaire tech bros.
Besides, I kinda like the long form old-school blogs – once you find one by someone whose interests align it can be a real source of inspiration and even friendship or community when you connect through the interwebs. I have followed Melissa’s Tiny Happy blog for around 15 years – a journal of gentle making, nature and crafting in New Zealand. It recently was migrated to a new platform here. I have also admired Mary’s activism, guerilla gardening and sustainable creativity in South Australia via her Local & Bespoke blog for many years too, often being inspired to take my own little actions after seeing hers. If you follow any sustainable crafting blogs that celebrate nature, crafting, and the little joys and everyday actions individuals are taking to make the world a better place, I’d love you to share them with me.
I’m not quite sure how this space is going to evolve…I’m partly posting to create a record for myself at this stage, but if there’s anyone following along that is interested in my random nature and crafting adventures and ramblings and would like to comment or connect with your own thoughts, that would be wonderful π For now, I hope your day has something in it that brings you some happiness, like this beautiful blue wren art brings me whenever I ride past it.
